Ayanda Collins joined SERI as a research intern in June 2015. She is currently an undergraduate student at Brown University in Rhode Island, majoring in Urban Studies. She will graduate in May 2016.

At Brown she coordinates an orientation programme that motivates first year students to get involved in the Providence community during their time at Brown. In the past, she has worked for the Providence High School student union, and in the City of Providence's sustainability office. She is an aspiring city planner and hopes to work in cities across the developing world, striving to make them more economically, environmentally and socially sustainable. Currently, she is undertaking an honors thesis that deals with gentrification in Johannesburg.

At SERI, Ayanda will be helping to analyse the Marikana report after its release, as well as assisting with other research projects.
