Tim joined SERI as a senior researcher in October 2016.
He has a Bachelor of Business Science (Hons) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Cape Town and a Master of Laws from the University of Michigan. He is currently completing a masters in international human rights law through the University of Oxford. Before joining SERI Tim worked as a Legal Researcher at SECTION27 for several years and also worked as a law clerk for Justice Zakeria Yacoob at the Constitutional Court of South Africa.
Tim is a founding member of the Know Your Constitution Campaign and a committee member of a South African Human Rights Commission’s statutory committee on access to justice.
Tim has published various opinion pieces, research reports, submissions to state institutions and articles in peer reviewed publications such as Acta Juridica and the South African Journal on Human Rights. His research interests include social and economic rights, radical forms of transformative constitutionalism and interactions between the politics of recognition and the politics of redistribution.
